Although most people would probably have been insulted, angered, or even distracted by Ruki's insult, Sango did not show the slightest of any of these. Her father had taught her well in the art of demon-slaying. Preparing for the next attack, she had placed her right hand on the hidden katana at her side. Fool, he hasn't realized that Hiraikotsu was a decoy in order to lure him into using his strange ability. He is falling right into the trap.
Sango was, however, taken by surprise when he transported to the sides rather than the front or back like before. Luck was on her side this time, however. Because Ruki transported just before Hiraikotsu hit him, Sango grabbed hold of it and was swinging it back up to throw again right when he threw his first sword, so it bounced harmlessly off of her giant weapon. "Nnh!" she said in pain as the sword on the right hit her, causing some pain, but probably not as much as the youkai intended since he had failed to notice the katana she wore there which prevented the blade from cutting her too deeply. Sango staggered slightly from the force of the blow from behind, but regained her balance quickly. The youkai had just hit the fully armored part of her back, and she realized that he was probably more injured from it than she was, althugh her back felt slightly sore. Not waiting to find out, however, Sango pulled out her katana and spun around at a high speed and swung her right arm in a hard straight line right across where Ruki's chest was. With any luck, he would be caught off his guard from her quick recovery and not move fast enough which would land him with a nasty wound across his chest. At the same time, she also swung Hiraikotsu at him from the left with incredible speed, so that in case the katana missed, he would end up with a nasty injury on his right side instead. He probably had no idea that Hiraikotsu was actually the worse option, as it had held off even Inuyasha's blade and pushed it back before.

Wincing slightly, Miroku struggled to gather himself. It was just one tiny kick.. Well, okay. Not so tiny. But he hated to appear weak in front of his enemy. Determination and concern for Sango facing this enemy all alone caused him to take another step, so that he was only a foot behind her, and to the right of her, so as to be able to concentrate on Ruki. Miroku had seen enough of his combat style to know that the youkai relied on his transportation periods to suddenly appear behind or right in front of his opponents, taking them off-guard and being able to strike, like he had done to Miroku.
Thus, he carefully kept close to Sango, in case Ruki appeared behind her. In the few seconds it might take for the young woman to turn around, the demon might already attack her, and Miroku did not want that to happen.
All of a sudden, the kitsune appeared at Sango's side, and Miroku blinked with surprise, completely taken off-guard. He hadn't expected that.
d**nit.. the young Houshi thought bitterly to himself. He's got even more tricks up his sleeve...
Sango repelled the attack with Hiraikotsu, thankfully, and Miroku breathed out a small sigh of relief, though the effort had obviously been slightly painful for her. Wincing out of concern for /her/, he started forward, angrier than ever.
As she skillfully made a strong comeback, Miroku watched, praying that one of her weapons made it way to Ruki, hopefully destroying him.
Glancing over to Sango, he ignored the pain in his stomach, as it wasn't that great right now, and raised a brow. "Can't I just suck him up now?" he asked the woman, releasing a sigh. He was tired of Ruki and his tricks, and he didn't like being made a fool of.

Ruki snarled as Sango was so quick to recover from his attacks. Once again, he used Fox Rush, but this time not appearing in front of or behind her...but rater above the two. The kitsune was now in the tree that he was waiting for Inu Yasha in.
'Suck me up?' Ruki thought to himself, and then remembered what the demon woman had said and given him. The kitsune laughed and looked down at the two, "You even attempt that monk, I will unleash something to null that completely. A little gift from someone who admires teh both of you."

Sango cursed lightly under her breath when Ruki used his Fox Rush ability once more to appear in the tree, realizing that she should have guessed he might attempt that. She was almost tempted to let Miroku suck up this evil and annoying youkai by this time. However, when he mentioned that he could nullify Miroku's Kazaana, Sango became wary of the idea, especially after he mentioned that it was a gift from someone. She only knew of one person who could effectively stop Miroku, and that was Naraku, so that meant that this demon was in cohorts with him afterall, just as she had suspected from the beginning.
"No Houshi-sama, it is a trap. If this demon can do as he claims, then he is indeed working for Naraku, just as we believed from the start. I cannot allow you to become poisoned by sucking him in, especially without Kagome and her modern medicines to help you," Sango ordered Miroku, her voice firm. She would have to deal with the kitsune youkai herself as originally planned. She was getting rather tired of his transporting, so she needed to fix that first before she could even think about landing a hit on him, so that meant she needed to use Hiraikotsu again to lure him away from the tree once more.
"Hiraikotsu!" Sango yelled, throwing her giant boomerang bone at him in the tree with accuracy and speed as usual, but this time it was aimed so that unless he moved, he would get hit by her weapon or the tree which would fall down from her weapon. Sango also placed her hand on her left elbow, awaiting Ruki's next move.

Ruki snarled as the girl threw her weapon at him again, honestly, when would she learn? The kitsune jumpped from the tree and landed on the ground, being sure to not land in a spot in which the tree would fall. He cracked his bones and then glared at Sango, "I'm not sure about you, but I am getting pretty bored of this. So I've come to the decision, the fun will end now..." He finished saying as the tree hit the ground with a loud thud. "One of you will die!" he shouted running at Sango, both of his blades drawn. Once near, Ruki jumpped into the air and began to bring down his swords and used his Fox Rush ability...(OCC: One time, he'll not use it to catch them off guard lol)
...but rather than do the expected thing and appear behind or on the other side of the woman, Ruki appeared behind Miroku. Before either of them had time to react the kitsune had both of his blades at vital points of his body...one of the swords pressed against his neck and the tip of the other touching his ternum. "Any last words for your lover?" Ruki whispered into Miroku's ear, smirking evily.

"Houshi-sama!" Sango yelled worriedly when Ruki made his unexpected move.
Sango was taken off her guard by the demon's newest attack and gasped in surprise and horror as he suddenly appeared behind Miroku instead of herself with his swords pointed at him. She was supposed to be his opponent, not Miroku.
After the initial surprise, Sango knew she had to think fast to save her companion from this tricky kitsune, and she had to act fast. She narrowed her eyes in hatred at Ruki, a clear sign that she had enough of him too. NO ONE messed with her friends, and she was done with the act of just being a normal fighter. Now she was really getting serious, and that kitsune was going to wish he had never laid a hand on Miroku, that was for certain.
Sango flipped open her left elbow guard and grabbed the long chain hidden inside it with her right hand very quickly, then threw it at Ruki, aiming it such that it would wrap around his legs, causing his balance to weaken greatly and thus forcing him to release Miroku for a moment. She didn't wait to see if it had worked or not however, but concentrated on her next action.
"Miroku!" she yelled, yanking off her filter mask and throwing it to him, her action pretty clearly indicating what she wanted him to do with it. Without waiting to see if he had it on, as Sango knew that she had to act as fast as possible and she trusted that he could take care of himself, she reached into one of her shoulder guards and snagged several round disks of poison powder from it. Then she threw them at Ruki, watching as they hit the ground and exploded into a huge film of poison fog around the youkai and houshi. If her intuition and father's training were worth anything, this kitsune would have a very sensitive nose like others of his kind which would leave him twice as susceptible to her poison which entered through the mouth and nose, and it was strong enough that even a little bit could be deadly. There was a strong chance that Ruki would be caught off his guard by this attack and breathe some in, but even if he didn't, Sango would still accomplish her purpose, as either way he would have to leave Miroku to save himself. If he used his fox rush to get out, he wouldn't be near enough Miroku to hurt him, and if he stayed, he would have to drop at least one of his weapons to cover his nose and mouth, and Sango was sure that Miroku could defend against one weapon as he had his staff. Besides, the poison created a whitish fog which also ensured that Ruki would not be able to see perfectly, so he would likely miss Miroku even if he did swing his weapon.

ooc; This is getting interesting. xD
----
"You even attempt that monk, I will unleash something to null that completely. A little gift from someone who admires teh both of you"...
Miroku frowned as those words were spoken, eyes following Ruki up in the tree. Once again, his thoughts were right there with Sango's. Ruki must be working with or for Naraku. There was no other explanation, unless someone else had given him some kind of 'gift,' though he highly doubted it. He was probably working for the evil hanyou. Even his "children" were working for him. Naraku was truly an evil, deadly fiend.. and Ruki was a fool for going along with whatever sick plot Naraku had in store for them.
Whatever the case, he had certainly prepared his newest lackey. Slightly disappointed, but not discouraged in the least, Miroku gathered himself, trying to face the fact that his Wind Tunnel would be of no use. After all the trouble it put him through, and the fact that it was slowly taking his life, so to speak, at least Kazaana came in handy during combat. Shakujou was powerful, yes, and could ward off most demon-forged attacks, and his sutra cards were great against evil, but the Void in his right hand was pretty much his best attack.
Oh, well.
At Sango's words, the houshi turned to face her, and he sent her a curt nod, not about to go against what she had said. So she definitely agreed that this guy was in it with Naraku.. at least now they could destroy him without question. There was no use in keeping him alive; he was obviously here only to try and gain some sort of secret knowledge about them, or to kill InuYasha, and Miroku had the distinct feeling that if they hadn't been there, their canine friend might have himself quite a worthy opponent.
Though the kitsune's next words were threatening, Miroku paid no attention to them, determined not to get distracted again. He was tired of Ruki fooling them, and thus kept his azure eyes glued on the fox, narrowing his orbs into slits as he awaited his next move.
As he had anticipated, Ruki began rushing at Sango with his blades drawn, and then disappeared. Assuming that he was going to appear next to his companion, Miroku took an involuntary step towards her, ready to help ward off the enemy, but instead, was taken by complete surprise as Ruki ended up behind him, quicker than even he had realized.
"What? Urh!" Miroku grunted angrily, brows raising as he felt the cold tips of the swords. He dared not move, though Ruki's words filled his blood with rage, and he jerked.
"You'll pay for this," he growled under his breath, though a bead of sweat was clearly visible on his brow, and his breath escaped in short, laborous gasps.
All of a sudden, Sango's yell broke his hurried thoughts, and Miroku's eyes switched to her, heart racing. He knew that their opponent would not hesitate to kill them for a second, and that he simply liked torturing them. But the thought of being killed now.. and leaving her behind..
((ooc; Now, I don't want to GodMode right now, but I'm assuming that Ruki was forced to let go of Miroku.))
Surprised but not shocked enough to stand there blankly, Miroku caught the mask as Sango threw it to him, slipping it quickly over his face, knowing what she was about to do, and thankful that she had allowed him a few moments' free from Ruki's deadly blades. She had saved him yet again.
Squinting his eyes as she threw the poison, Miroku tried not to inhale more than was necessary, though the mask would keep him safe for now. Backing up and taking this oppurtunity to put some distance between himself and the youkai, he gripped his staff, ready in case he suddenly disappeared again, though he too realized that the immediate area would be enveloped in fog soon enough.

"God dammit," Ruki grolwed as he was forced to release the monk and retreat to a safe distance. The kitsune used his Fox Rush ability until he was about a hundred or so feet away, safely out of reach from the gas. "I'll kill you both!" he shouted at the top of his lungs as to make sure the others heard him. The demon unsheathed his blades and took a step forward, before falling to one knee, "No..." The kitsune was completely worn out, he thought that the power of the jewel shard would have gave him a lot more energy and power; it did, but not to the extent that he was expecting.
Ruki's pride hurt more than his body, he wanted to continue fighting the two...not for the person he was working for (Ruki had already forgotten the person name), but for himself. The kitsune slowly stood up, gritted his teeth and began walking in the opposite direction. He would meet them again, and they would be sorry...

Sango ignored the death threat shouted by Ruki at her and Miroku since it defintely was not the first time that she had heard one, in fact probably not even the thousandth. Instead, she kept one hand on Hiraikotsu and watched the retreating back of the kitsune youkai get smaller the farther away he went. She knew that she must not let down her guard until she was completely certain that Ruki was not coming back, although she highly doubted that he was since she guessed that his attacks must use a lot of energy, and she imagined that the only reason he had lasted this long was because he had a shard of the Shikon no Tama, no doubt given to him by Naraku in order to help kill them.
Satisfied that Ruki would not return to battle more at the moment, Sango turned toward the direction where she had last seen Miroku, strapping Hiraikotsu to her back as she did so. When her weapon was securely fastened once more so that she didn't need to hold it, she shielded her eyes with one hand and squinted her eyes as she peered into the fog created by the poisonous gas, hoping to see a shadow or something that would indicate the whereabouts of her friend so that she could see if he was alright. She wasn't worried about the poison gas hurting him since he had the mask on, but that kick given by Ruki had been a powerful one, and she knew that they needed to treat it as soon as possible.
Still seeing no sign of her companion, as the poisonous fog was rather thick by now, Sango resorted to another tactic. She thought it was possible that maybe he couldn't figure out which way to go to get out of the gas, and she had two ways to fix that, although she knew that she couldn't go in the gas. "Houshi-sama!" she called loudly, placing her hands around her mouth to amplify the sound. If he heard her calling, he would probably be able to follow her voice to get out. If not, there was always the chance that he would see the long chain she had used to trip up Ruki since she hadn't yet pulled it in to store it once more. If worse came to worse though, she would go into the gas herself to find him, but hopefully he was not so injured as to make that necessary.

The fog spread quickly, and Miroku found himself unable to see anything. His mouth and nose were covered, but his eyes were not. Shielding them with his right hand, he squinted through the mist and coughed, though that was probably from the kick he had recieved earlier. He thought he could taste blood, but that wasn't his main concern right now.
The fog caused his vision to blur slightly, and he swayed, turning around on his heel and staring into nothing but thick purple mist. He had to hurry! Being so occupied with gathering himself, the monk hadn't even picked up on Ruki's warning. For all he knew, the demon could still be battling Sango! Miroku knew he had to hurry. Plus, it couldn't be good for him to remain in the fog for too long, regardless of whether or not he had a mask.
When the sound of Sango's voice pierced the silence, the houshi turned his head towards the direction of her voice, glad that she was all right. Well, at least able to call for him. Dropping Shakujou, he groped blindly for it, and as soon as his fingers found its smooth surface, picked it up and made his way towards his female companion's call.
Staggering out of the mist, Miroku coughed again and found himself able to see Sango's thin form. Making his way to her, he pulled the mask off of his head and smiled weakly. "Here I am," he said, and looked around. "Where'd he go? Are you all right?"

Sango sighed in relief when she finally saw Miroku emerging from the fog created by her poison gas, as she had been getting really worried that maybe Ruki had attacked her companion while he was still in the gas. She watched him as he approached, quickly winding up her chain and storing it in her elbow guard as she waited for him to reach her.
"Yes, I'm fine. He barely scratced me except for one of my sides, and it isn't that deep. He's gone now... he left. But I have a feeling this is not the last we'll see of him..." Sango said, briefly turning her head to look in the direction that Ruki had disappeared in not too long ago. "We should be getting back to Lady Kaede's. You need to have your injury taken care of. Did he cause you any other injuries?" Sango asked, her expression worried. She hadn't been able to see if Ruki had done any other damage while in the gas.
Noticing that Miroku was still stumbling, despite using his staff for support, Sango walked up next to him and took hold of his arm, placing it across her shoulders and putting an arm across his to support him. She knew she was just asking for him to try something lecherous on her, but it couldn't be helped, and she would deal with that when it happened. She knew that she needed to help him though, because something told her his injury was worse than he was letting on, and if she didn't help him get there quickly he might get worse. Besides, without her help, it would take forever to get back.
"Shall we?" she asked, indicating that she was ready to go back if he was.

"Good," Miroku replied softly, as she said that she wasn't too injured. "As do I.." he admitted when she stated her opinions on the two of them seeing the demon again. It wasn't like he was just going to disappear and never return. He'd be back. Probably more prepared. It was actually quite lucky for the two of them that Ruki had left. They had been running out of things to do, though Sango's poison had worked quite well.
Thoughts averting back to his friend, Miroku shook his head slowly. "No, I'm fine. I don't need any special treatment." He smiled. "It was just a kick. I'm over it now," he added, trying to reassure her.
"And no, I'm all right, other than that," he answered her, releasing a deep sigh. However, the taste of blood was still in his mouth; he must have coughed it up after such a hard kick. He'd be okay, though. Walking was a bit of a challenge, but Sango quickly saw to that, and the next thing he knew, she was helping to support him. Smiling to himself at how she was willing to help him out like this, he nodded, clenching Shakujou loosely with his other hand and allowing her to help him.
"Yes, let's go," he told her with a nod. Yeah, this would be a perfect time for Houshi-sama to try something.. however, something told him that it wouldn't be very wise to do anything like that right now. Well.. was it ever wise? Still, they had just gotten out of a battle. A relatively small one, but a battle nonetheless. Sango was probably stressed, and he didn't want to increase her tension levels. Still, a lech is a lech. Smiling secretly to himself, Miroku began to walk with Sango, leaning against her thin frame for support.

Sango was surprised when they finally reached Kaede's hut that Miroku hadn't tried to pull any of his lecherous moves on her, but she supposed that he too was somewhat tired out from the battle with Ruki. She had heard what he said about it only being a kick, but be as that may, it was hard one that obviously had hurt her companion more than he wanted to admit, or at least wanted to admit to her. She appreciated his concern for her feelings, however this was not something that should be taken lightly. Besides, if Kaede-sama and Kagome-chan were both absent, she would be the one that needed to tend to it.
Sango entered the hut, helping Miroku to sit down before she searched for something to use on his injury. She wished that Kaede or Kagome were here since they were the ones that were good at the healing sort of things, but they weren't, so she would have to do it herself. She was grateful that Kagome always left some of her modern medicines behind for them, however, and she spotted them labeled in one of the corners of the hut along with some bandages. Picking them up, Sango returned to where Miroku sat, and knelt down next to him, still in her battle clothes. She wanted to change into her more comfortable clothes, but she didn't really have anywhere to do so, and she certainly wasn't going to do so in front of miroku. Besides, his injuries were more important.
"Miroku-sama, let me see your wound. I should at least do something for it until Kaede-sama or Kagome-chan return." she said, indicating that he should show it to her.

Miroku sat down gently, propping Shakujou in the corner before doing so. He smiled up at the woman as she made herself busy. It tickled him to see her so worried about him. Not.. that.. he wanted her to be worried or anything. It was just nice to be alone with her, and have all of her attention focused on him. Yeah, he was the same as always..
"Mm?" He was instantly brought out of his thoughts as Sango addressed him. "Oh, sure," he said, and began to remove his indigo kimono, before pausing. "I think it's internal," he admitted softly, meaning the wound. There probably wasn't a visible wound anywhere on his chest or stomach, which was where he had been kicked.
Aw, man. He mentally chastized himself for giving up an oppurtunity to remove his clothing for the young female. Miroku ran a hand through his ebony hair as if in defeat. Well, this sucked. I mean, d**n internal wound! At least if he had to get hurt, it could have been a cut or something. But all he had was a kick wound, which might create a bruise on his flesh. If he was lucky.
Wait a minute..
"Maybe you should check for a bruise," he said quickly, holding up the hem of his kimono as if eagerly.

Sango gave her male companion a definitely suspicious look as he held onto the hem of his kimono for her. She knew Miroku too well to be fooled by that action. No doubt it was just a rouse in order to make her touch him or to put her in a position where he could try something lecherous on her as usual. But, in a way it relieved her, because it meant that he was returning to normal. If he could think about such a thing while injured, he would probably be fine.
As much as the female taijiya knew that she was falling for Miroku's trap, she knew that she really should check to see if there was a bruise since that would indicate how bad the internal injury was, and besides, kagome had brought some sort of salve for bruises which might help him feel more comfortable. Instead of taking the hem that he held up, however, Sango reached for the section of it closer to the middle to open it with an all too clear sigh after she set down the medicines and shifted so that she was directly in front of him. After all, she didn't need to take all of his kimono off.
As she pulled it open, her cheeks turned slightly pinkish, but she continued until Miroku's chest and stomach showed. Sure enough, there was a rather large bruise there, so Sango turned her backside to Miroku as she reached for the salve and some bandages, forgetting that she was putting herself in the perfect position for Miroku to try something on her.
