Miroku's eyes darted down as Kirara transformed into her larger, more dangerous form. They were lucky to have such an able youkai on their side. Kirara, however, did not really /feel/ like an ordinary demon. She had become family, and he had come to know and love her.
However, business called, and he kept his bold stance beside Sango as they approached Ruki. Coming to a halt beside the slender female, he too tilted his head back to look up at the tree-bound youkai.
As the male in question flipped agily out of the tree in which he was previously perched in, Miroku kept his cool indigo eyes locked on the demon's. A short, grim laugh escaped his mouth as he heard Ruki's question.
"We weren't just going to stand around and let you get by with your antics," he said blandly. "Now.. before any trouble starts. What do you really want with InuYasha?"

Sango too watched Ruki jump out of the tree and listened to the question, although she thought that it was rather unnecessary to ask since it seemed obvious to her why they were there, and she thought it would be to him too.
"Yes, and we could tell that you weren't just a messenger. We know of Inuyasha's family, so what could you tell us or him that we don't already know?" Sango stated once Miroku had finished speaking. She gripped the strap of Hiraikotsu a little tighter since she sensed that this could only end up in a fight either way.

Ruki shook his head, these two humans were becoming quite annoying, and disposing of them seemed like a better idea as time went on. Rather then do anything too rash, he decided to keep cool....or attempt to anyways.
"Not a messenger? I'm hurt...I'm sorry I don't look like the typical messenger, but it is who I am," Ruki said, and kept to it...the best he could. "And as for the message, without giving too much away...it has to do with his mother."

Sango narrowed her eyes at the kitsune youkai suspiciously. She didn't buy his story at all. Obviously he didn't know who she or Miroku were, and was digging himself a deeper grave with each word he said. Did he truly think that they thought he wasn't a messanger because of how he looked? And besides, Inuyasha's mother had died a long time ago, and no one really knew where or how, so it really wasn't possible that she had been brought back to life...
"Do not misunderstand us... we did not decide this because of the way you look. If we trusted what we see all the time, we would never have traveled with the companions that we do now," she informed Ruki, "We decided that you were not a messenger because of the aura you have." Sango refrained from further adding that Inuyasha's mother was dead, so there was nothing that he could say about her. Maybe if that was not mentioned, he would slip by saying something that both she and Miroku knew to be false. Sango turned her gaze towards Miroku to see what he had to say about all this.
((OOC: Sorry if that post was really bad, but I had to post something... I hope Miroku comes to post soon...))

((ooc: Aw, I thought it was great! <3 It's hard to think up what they would say at times, though you are really good at it!))
Miroku watched the youkai, sharing Sango's suspiscion. He stood his ground, Shakujou tightly held in hand, ready to attack, though, like his female companion, felt the need to justify all of this first. He wasn't one to just attack and kill for no good reason.. though this character might just have already proved that reason. Something about his words unnerved the monk, and he shifted. "InuYasha's mother?" he repeated lamely, looking to Sango in confusion. "Does InuYasha even have a mother?" Well, of course he did, but Miroku could not recall a former time in which the woman was ever mentioned. Or if she had, he obviously hadn't been paying attention.. though that was hardly the more important matter here.
He nodded at Sango's wise words, backing her up fully. "She's right; if we went solely on appearances.. it'd be hard to trust /anyone./" He knew perfectly well that Ruki was being sarcastic, but he kept his calm air all the same, and in fact yawned in a momentary lapse.
"Surely you're up to something more than you say.." Miroku told the demon, eyeing him, "but I highly doubt that you're going to tell us. I don't want to fight you, demon, but we can not just stand by and see you attack one of our friends.. for that is your aim, is it not? Surely, you do not wish to give the hanyou InuYasha a message, and involving his mother, at that."
He scoffed briefly, and nodded at Sango. "We have no problem waiting with you until InuYasha comes.. and then if you pull anything, we'll be there." He smiled pleasantly at Ruki, and nodded like a little schoolboy. It probably wasn't wise to act this way towards this person, but Miroku was running on a streak of confidence. [/color]

"So it seems," the demon said closing his eyes, "That you two are going to continue annoying me. I was really trying to test my will to see how long I could go without violence...but you two.....you two are so d**n annoying!" The kitsune growled, unseathing his swords. "I guess I'll have to distract myself with you two for now."
Ruki ran at the two humans, jumping in the air to take their heads off. As he was bringing his weapons down, and they bringing their weapons up to defend, he used his Fox Rush ability to appear behind the two, followed quickly by the kitsune using his Energy Ball attack, throwing two orbs at the humans.

Sango wasn't at all surprised when Ruki finally lost it and gave up his fake messenger act to attack them. She had expected it to happen ever since they had first arrived there. Without hesitating, Sango quickly swung her giant boomerang bone off of her back and readied it for the first attack.
"It looks like he's showing his true colors at last," Sango told Miroku as she swung Hiraikotsu upwards to block his attack from above. When Ruki disappeared, Sango spun around quickly to look for him, and even so just barely managed to thrust her weapon in front of her body in time to hold off the energy ball shot at her back by Ruki. She hadn't had time to put it in front of Miroku to protect him too however, as the second attack had been so fast.
"Miroku, look out behind you!" Sango yelled to him, trusting that he would be able to dodge or block the energy ball without her help since this was not a possibility for her at the moment.

An ebony brow raised as Miroku stared at the kitsune youkai, body tensing as he could both hear from the tone in Ruki's annoyed voice and sense from his body language. Knowing that small talk could no longer help them, Miroku was not surprised when Ruki ran at them, nor when he jumped. It was when Miroku raised his staff and put a hand on a Sutra to get ready to evade his attack, that the true surprise came.
"Yes.. guess we were right about his intentions being bad," Miroku muttered in response to Sango's statement, getting his weapons ready, though Ruki disappeared right before his eyes. Mouth opening, Miroku whirled around in frustration, sensing Sango doing the same beside him.
His eyes widened as he heard Sango's shout, and as the energy ball flew at him, he threw his staff down to the ground and dropped, praying that the thing didn't follow him to the ground, but rather fly over him. Just in case, he raised his staff above him, as it could block most demon-forged attacks.
((ooc: .. Maybe not the best decision on my part, but I had no clue what to do. I dunno if he can block this or not with his staff; it's been a while since I've managed to catch InuYasha.))

Ruki smirked, looking at the two humans, "Having fun yet? Cause I know I am." He slowly began to walk towards them again, "Although this is hardly fair, two of you against one of me." He pointed one sword at Sango, and then pointed it at Miroku, "Now, which of you will feel my wrath?"
The kitsune ran towards Miroku, about to take a swipe at him, but used his Fox Rush ability to appear behind the two. Just at the two were starting to turn, Ruki used the ability again and appeared in front of Miroku, throwing a hard Roundhouse kick.

Scowling, Miroku decided that he had had enough of this youkai's sarcasm. No, he wasn't having fun, and this guy knew it. If InuYasha were here.. well, he wasn't, and it was up to he and Sango to put a stop to this guy before he carried out whatever devious plans he had up his sleeve.
When the kitsune demon began to walk slowly towards them, Miroku sent Sango a glance, making sure that she was all right, though she always was. Sango was a skilled exterminator, and he fully trusted her skills. He only hoped that he could match this guy's tricks with his own. Miroku was fairly decently in shape, and pretty fast, but he knew from experience that fox demons were natural tricksters. Just look at Shippou.
While one sword pointed to Sango, and the other to him, Miroku tried not to appear ruffled by this, and snorted lightly through his nostrils instead.
Come on, he mentally said, as Ruki ran towards him. It took everything in his will power not to just suck the male up, right then and there, though he knew that he still held questions that needed to be answered.
The houshi blinked, surprised, as the kitsune youkai disappeared suddenly, like he had done earlier. He instinctively began to swirl on his heel and face the other direction, preparing himself for combat, when all of a sudden, Ruki was in front of him, landing some kind of kicking attack.
The impact hit him in the stomach, as he wasn't fast enough to block the attack, and he kneeled over, clutching his waist. "ARG," he spat, groping for his staff with his right hand and swinging it out in front of him, in case the demon was going to try and attack him again, while he was down.

Sango watched Ruki's every move, her mind going over the possible next attacks he might do in the way she had been trained by her father. She was very grateful that he had taught her, because without it she would be no match for any demon. With her training, she could observe a demon's powers and fairly accurately predict what move it would try to use next on her, and thus defeat it.
It was no surprise to her when Ruki used his ability to disappear again, she had expected that since he used it in every attack. She hadn't, however, expected him to kick Miroku. She knew she would now have to watch out for that attack herself when he came at her.
"Miroku!" Sango yelled, worried as he went down by the kitsune youkai's attack. Sango ran, not stopping until she was right in front of him, then hurled her giant boomerang bone effortlessly at Ruki with incredible speed, not leaving her place in front of her companion in case the demon tried to attack Miroku again. She would let this kitsune think that all she could do was throw Hiraikotsu, and then when the youkai thought she was easy to get and let his ego get the better of him concerning her, she would show him what she could really do.
"Houshi-sama, are you alright?" she asked Miroku without turning around to look at him, although she wanted to in order to make sure he was okay. She knew that she must not let her guard down around Ruki however, as he was no doubt not above taking any advantages in battle against them, just as they would against him.

Ruki snarled as he watched the giant bone boomarang coming towards him. The kitsune took his sword and brought it down on the weapon, figuring it would be enough to stop it...his mistake. The forced of the Hiraikotsu knocked the demon flat on the ground, knocking the wind out of him. His sword actually fell on him, lightly cutting his arm. Ruki laid on the ground as he waited for the Hiraikotsu to pass by again, he then kicked up and looked at his two foes, holding his chest lightly.
Ruki spat on the ground, "Ya know, this isn't all that fair. Two against one? Even I, the great fighter that I am, am having difficultly. So you have two options: One of you stand down and do absoultly nothing...or I can high tail it out of here and head towards that village. So many children there, it'd be an awful shame if anything happened to them."

Sango's hand almost automatically reached out and grabbed hold of the straps of her large boomerang bone as it returned to her, making it look as though it weighed nothing at all. She was glad that she had managed to hit him with it, or at least force him back, but she guessed that was only because her weapon looked a whole lot lighter than it really was.
Sango narrowed her eyes in hatred at Ruki's comment. How dare he involve the children of the village in this! They were not his targets, but herself, Miroku, and Inuyasha. Glancing back at Miroku who still sat on the ground, Sango gave him a look that told him that she would be the one to fight Ruki. After all, she hadn't been injured by him yet, and she was a demon exterminator, and a good one at that. Ruki probably hadn't figured that out yet, although Sango would have thought that the battle outfit gave it away. Maybe he didn't spend much time with humans...
"Rrr... you...!" Sango said angrily, continuing to glare at Ruki. "Leave the village children, they have done nothing to you. Instead, I will be your opponent," she added as she took a step towards him, lifting Hiraikotsu slightly, showing that she was ready for him to attack. She did not hesitate long enough to allow him the first move though, but rather flung her massive weapon at him once more, not so much because she thought that he would fall for it and get himself hit, but rather so that he would become angry and use his disappearing ability to get close enough to her that she could use her other weapons on him. Although she was very fast with Hiraikotsu, so it was still possible that he would be caught off his guard and be hit.

Miroku was well-aware of much activity going on around him. He heard Sango yell his name, and raised his head, eyes narrowing as he glanced up, just in time to see her run in front of him. She was protecting him.. he smiled despite himself, and his eyes shifted up to Sango's form as she asked him whether or not he was alright. He knew that she couldn't examine him or even turn to him yet, as Ruki had proved himself to be a very fast and sneaky enemy indeed. The last thing he wanted was for Sango to get hurt.
"Yes.. I think so," he responded, a hand clenching his stomach. d**ned youkai.. he had kicked him good. Normally, Miroku wasn't one to stay down, but his stomach hurt immensely, and he was aware of the taste of blood in his mouth. Rubbing the back of his dark indigo kimono sleeve against his mouth, he swallowed and nodded, even though she couldn't see his gesture. "Yes, I'm alright."
He raised his eyes to watch as Sango hurled her boomerang towards the kitsune. For a moment, he remained transfixed, eyes watching as she effortlessly threw the massive, bone-forged weapon at their opponent. Miroku knew that Hiraikotsu weighted much more than Sango made it appear; he had carried it before, and that thing was heavy. It made him even more aware of Sango's abilities, and he admired her for that, though now was clearly not the time to sit there and watch her.
Indigo orbs widened in surprise as Hiraikotsu hit Ruki, and he smiled in delight. Ha, he thought bitterly to himself.
When the demon spoke, Miroku stared at him roughly, and his eyes narrowed as Ruki gave them their 'options.' Instantly his mouth flew open as he caught the other male's words, and anger surged through his veins. He could both feel and hear Sango's rage as well, when she spoke next, and as she sent a look back towards him, Miroku opened his mouth to protest, though closed it quickly. She would not be told otherwise, he knew.
Seeing the young female take a step towards Ruki and dub herself as his opponent, the houshi felt a surge of worry, though he knew that Sango could easily dispose of this creature. Over-confidence? Perhaps, but Miroku had seen enough of this girl in combat to know that she was not someone to mess with.
Still, he wasn't just about to sit there and do nothing.
Struggling to his feet, Miroku grabbed Shakujou, clenching it tightly in his left fist. His stomach hurt where Ruki had kicked him, but he didn't care anymore. Swaying lightly, he took a step towards Sango, remaining behind her slightly. He was ready.. ready to back her up, if needed.
Placing the Shakujou in the crook of his arm, the young male placed his left arm on his right wrist, getting ready to use his main attack, if needed.

Ruki glared at the woman when she stepped up to be his opponent. He was hoping that the monk would have been man enough to stand up to him...mainly because he was already injured. Once the woman threw her boomarang at him again, he used his Fox Rush ability to appear in front of her (not close enough for melee attacks) to both dodge the attack and to mock her, "You will really have to try harder than that. I would be able to dodge that peice of crap weapon with my eyes closed."
Ruki's ears perked up a bit when hea heard the weapon coming back around, this was where his plan would come into motion. The kitsune hoped that by standing in front of the woman that she wouldn't notice the boomarang coming back around, but he couldn't just rely on that for his attack. Just moments before it was to hit him he used his Fox Rush ability to appear to her left side and then threw one of his swords at her; the moment it left his hand, Ruki used Fox Rush again to appear on her right side and once again threw his sword. Once again, the Kitsune used his Fox Rush ability the moment his weapon left his hand to appear behind the woman and aimed to kick her in the ribs much like he had already hit the monk. Surely she would not be able to dodge every attack....
